WorkKeys

Georgia Piedmont Tech offers technical licensing through the National Career Readiness System and ACT's WorkKeys, formerly Georgia Work Ready. WorkKeys provides a thorough assessment of foundation skills needed for success in the workplace.

WorkKeys assesses your “real world” skills. Core assessment measures skills in Workplace Documents (replaced Reading for Information), Applied Mathematics, and Graphic Literacy (replaced Locating Information), three skills that are highly important to the majority of jobs in the workplace. WorkKeys measures skills that employers consider essential to success on the job. Having a skills credential that is locally and nationally recognized facilitates job placement, retention, and advancement. Scores are available at the end of the testing session.

Certificate Levels

After passing the WorkKeys assessments, you will receive a National Career Readiness Certificate. This allows you to show employers your capability for employment, increased salaries, and promotions.

If you find your scores disappointing, Georgia Piedmont Tech will help you find the right training to increase skills in reading, math, and locating information. Coaching is also available for those wanting to improve their habits in the workplace.

The WorkKeys assessment system has a database that matches people with a variety of jobs. Most jobs require certain skill levels in Reading for Information, Applied Mathematics, and Locating Information. Individuals with higher skill levels qualify for more jobs. The WorkKeys program uses test results from these assessments to award certificates in four categories:

Bronze Level
signifies an individual has scored at least a level 3 in each of the three core areas (Reading for Information, Applied Mathematics, and Locating Information) and has the necessary skills for 35 percent of the jobs in the WorkKeys database.

Silver Level
signifies an individual has scored at least a level 4 in each of the three core areas and has the necessary skills for 65 percent of the jobs in the WorkKeys database.

Gold Level
signifies an individual has scored at least a level 5 in each of the three core areas and has the necessary skills for 90 percent of the jobs in the WorkKeys database.

Platinum Level
signifies an individual has scored at least a level 6 in each of the three core areas and has the necessary skills for 99 percent of the jobs in the WorkKeys database.
